TIPS ON SHIPPING CONTAINER DELIVERY

To ensure fluid shipping container delivery, you need to inspect the (public) road leading to your property and your driveway. Check for:

• Overhead power lines
• Overhead obstructions (trees, shrubs, bridges, etc.)
• Weight limitations on bridges
• Low bridges
• Building overhang
• Driveway width

However, with crane delivery you will a lot more – ask the transport provider for their requirements. Also, if you are unsure about the clearances take some pictures/videos around the site. Provide these with other relevant details to your transport supplier. Most suppliers will be only too happy to advise you pre-delivery.

Be precise about the delivery address. Because GPS maps can only be so accurate. So, you should provide details on property access and door direction. The second can make a great difference in utility. This is because the wrong direction will mean you have to walk the length of the container more than necessary!

Additionally, you can highlight the entrance with something like a rag in the mailbox or unique landmark. Inform the transport provider of this so that it can be added to the delivery notes. It’s best practice to allow a wide time frame for delivery should any issues arise.
